Legacy torrent client upgrades and app retirements
We are making urgent changes to our supported software to help keep your seedbox and our servers secure. These changes include upgrading legacy torrent clients, and removing previously unsupported apps.
Recent PHP vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619) have made it necessary to retire our ruTorrent v3 installations. Rutorrent v3 is unmaintained and not possible to work with recent php versions which resolve the above mentioned vulnerabilities. We are also taking this opportunity to retire the older Deluge v1.3 and Transmission v3 clients as well.
We will upgrade affected torrent clients by tomorrow, 24 October 2026:
| Current client | Upgrading to |
|---|---|
| ruTorrent v3 | ruTorrent v4 |
| Deluge v1.3 | Deluge v2 |
| Transmission v3 | Transmission v4 |
These upgrades are mandatory. We understand that this is short notice, but the security concerns require us to act quickly.
For users moving from ruTorrent v3, there are two important changes: RuTorrent v4 installation does not include the Rutorrent File Manager which is not available after rutorrent v3. Autodl is also an unmaintained plugin of rutorrent and not available in later rutorrent versions as well.
For file management, please use Seedbucket, which is included free with your seedbox.
The autodl-irssi plugin is also being retired. If you use it to automate torrent downloads, please move to autobrr, available as a one-click installation in your client area. You will need to configure autobrr for your automation needs.
We will also be uninstalling the remaining installations of these previously unsupported apps from our servers:
- Nextcloud
- Pydio
- ownCloud
- CouchPotato
- SickBeard
- Organizr
We stopped officially supporting these apps and offering new installations some time ago. Existing installations were allowed to remain running, but we can no longer continue hosting these legacy, unsupported deployments. Some also rely on PHP, making their removal particularly important as part of this security work.
If you still use any of these apps, please prepare to move to an alternative and back up any app-specific data or settings you need to retain.
We know that changes to familiar tools can disrupt your workflow, and we apologise for the short notice. If you need help finding the replacement tools or have questions about how these changes affect your seedbox, please contact our support team through your client area.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
